ABOUT US:
The Sunshine Coast Bushwalkers Club was formed in 1975. We are a group of active bushwalkers from all walks of life who share the enjoyment of the outdoors. Our program includes a range of active pursuits including day walks, through walks, kayaking, biking, base camping, and extended through walking expeditions. Activities over the past few years have included:
Day walks: Easy:
- Beach walks along the beaches from Bribie Island to Noosa North Shore
- Easy sections of Kin Kin Trails Network
- Ewan Maddock Dam
- Noosa National Park
- Rocky Creek State Forest near Nambour
- Mt Borumba
Base camps with day walks:
- Glen Rock and Goomburra near Gatton
- Binna Burra, Springbrook and Green Mountains
- Burrum Heads and Woodgate
- Jack’s Place. The club has access to an old farm house near Mt Maroon. This is an excellent base for walks in the Mt Barney National Park, Lamington National Park and the Main Range.
Day walks: Medium to Hard:
- Glasshouse Mountains
- Booloumba, Summer, Little Yabba, Peters and Bundaroo Creeks in the Conondale Range
- Kenilworth Bluff
- Branch Creek near Bellthorpe
- Northbrook Gorge in Brisbane Forest Park
Kayaking & Canoeing:
- Kayaking on Noosa, Maroochy and Mooloolah Rivers and their tributaries
- Bribie Passage
- Burrum River
Extended through walks:
- Fraser and Moreton Islands
- Girraween and Sundown
- Cooloola
- Kosciuszko
- Carnarvon Ranges
- Central Australia
- Tasmania
- New Zealand
Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month at 7.30 pm at the Buderim Craft Cottage, behind the Buderim Memorial Hall, Main Street, Buderim. This is an opportunity to find out about upcoming walks and enjoy a chit chat at the supper provided after the meeting.
